pandemic portals
A series of over 20 oil paintings emerged during my two years of pandemic-induced isolation. Drawn to the intense colors of the artificial flowers on display at a local variety store, I let those bright hues permeate my work, adding stencil tracings for texture.
The paintings that emerged feel like mysterious portals into the subconscious, a domain that is immersive, dream-like and surprising. Curious images lurk. The air is strange. Everything is afloat and in flux.
